Developing proper mechanics is absolutely critical to a pitcher's success.
And one of the best ways to improve is by watching how big league pitchers use their bodies to deliver the ball to the plate. Watching clips of successful pitchers can give you visual cues of what correct pitching mechanics look like.
While every pitcher will develop his unique pitching style, good pitching mechanics will help a pitcher:
- Utilize the entire body as a single unit
- Reduce the amount of stress on the throwing arm
- Appear to be fluid or explosive
- Produce the greatest amount of velocity with the least amount of effort
